An integral part of its business identity and overall mission, Elco is constantly working to develop strong and lasting ties with the community and country in which it operates. As part of its commitment to social responsibility, the company actively contributes both resources and volunteers in ongoing projects related to a real social need.
Via its subsidiary Electra Consumer Products Ltd, Elco donates electrical appliances to charitable institutions, including welfare associations, army units and hospitals. It also chooses suppliers who contribute to the community, by providing employment and opportunity to disabled or disadvantaged people.
Elco spearheads three main volunteering projects:
NAAMAT Day Care Center for Children At Risk: Electra has taken the Rishon Lezion branch under its wing, and has contributed electrical appliances and computers as part of the comprehensive renovation of the center. In addition, Electra staff volunteer at the children’s activities run by the center.
Sufa Battalion of the Armored Corps: Electra has ‘adopted’ the Sufa Battalion, and runs a range of leisure activities, events and holiday celebrations for its soldiers at different times throughout the year. Electra has also donated equipment to the army base and clubhouses to improve quality of life for the battalion.
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv Adoption Project: The basketball team works in youth programs such as Beit Hashnati, where players mentor teenagers in distress with basketball practice and athletic challenges; Elem Lights of Hope Campaign that raises funds for youth-at-risk; and the traditional annual visit to the Schneider Children’s Hospital.
