Today (Tuesday), Carrefour Israel is launching 50 branches around Israel under the formats Carrefour City (neighborhood stores), Carrefour Market, and Carrefour Hyper (discount stores). This is the first time an international retail chain is opening branches in Israel. Today it is revealed that tens of thousands of customers can receive a launch gift.
The chain has announced on social media: “Carrefour is about to land in Israel with the best prices, variety, quality and service! You have the opportunity to be one of the first to experience our website and receive a special launch gift on your first order!” This is probably a token inexpensive gift for each purchaser.
On clicking the link, customers are taken to a page in which they can enter their personal details and the branch they wish to purchase from, which also displays the clarification: “*To receive the gift you must register and shop on the Carrefour Online website. The gift’s details and how to redeem it will be sent by email or SMS according to supply area availability. Registration until 09/05/2023 or while stock lasts. The Partnership retains the right to change and/or cancel and/or add the gift type.”
The branches were designed by Carrefour, and adhere to the chain’s concept while meeting its international standards. About 20 professionals from Carrefour International are in Israel to train the local teams according to international standards. About a year after the agreement between Electra Consumer Products and French retail chain Carrefour has been signed, 50 Carrefour branches are opening their doors following an ILS 250 million investment. By the end of the year, Carrefour Israel is expected to have 80-100 branches. Carrefour branches will offer a wide variety of over 1,000 Carrefour products in about 80 categories, including food products, organic products, toiletry and cleaning products, and non-food products, in European quality and the lowest prices in the market. These will join the dozens of products that have already been launched in Israel: tea packets, coffee capsules, cereal, milk alternatives, chocolates, organic juices, shaving blades, women hygiene products, etc.
Uri Kilstein, Carrefour Israel CEO: “We are keeping our promise, and on May 9th we will open the first 50 branches of the international chain all around Israel, and will become Carrefour’s 50th country. Carrefour’s launch will increase competition in the food sector with a wide variety of quality products at market-breaking prices, and a low overall price level, and will offer customers a innovative shopping experience that is different from what we all know. This is huge news for the Israeli consumer. We have worked tirelessly for many months to reach this moment, our teams are prepared, and I invite each and every one of you to visit our branches, which are widespread nationally. We all deserve the best.
Carrefour has 14 thousand branches in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, East Asia, and Africa, and its sales turnover is around ILS 400 billion (almost six times the entire market sales in Israel).
